Mental health and workplace support

UZH / ETHZ

  • Psychological Counselling Services UZH/ETH (PBS): Free and confidential professional counselling for students and doctoral candidates experiencing personal or academic stress, mental health difficulties, or conflicts during their studies or doctorate. PBS can also help with finding an appropriate psychotherapist if longer-term treatment is needed: Link.
  • Nightline Zurich: Anonymous and confidential peer support where you can talk or write about any concern, whether large or small: Link.

UZH

  • UZH Employee Assistance Office (MBS): Independent, confidential, and free psychological and legal advice for difficult workplace situations, employment-related concerns, and conflicts. The service is available to UZH employees as well as matriculated doctoral candidates who are not employed by UZH: Link.
  • UZH Graduate Campus: Counselling for conflicts or difficulties related to supervision, the doctoral programme, or the academic working environment: Link.
  • UZH Protection Against Sexual Harassment: Confidential advice and support for UZH members affected by, or seeking advice about, sexual harassment: Link.

ETHZ

  • AVETH Counselling Service: Confidential counselling and support specifically for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers at ETH Zurich. It is listed together with the other ETH counselling services here: Link.
  • ETH Respect Office: Confidential advice in cases of workplace conflict, bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, or other inappropriate behavior: Link.
  • ETH Ombudspersons: An independent and confidential contact point for conflicts that cannot be resolved through direct communication and for concerns about potentially unlawful conduct: Link.

You are also very welcome to either contact your student representatives or the program coordinator. Everything will be treated confidentially.
